1 Year Anniversary!!! :D

Hey guys! I know I'm posting this kind of late, but it's officially been a year since I started this blog! Where has the time gone?! For those of you who are currently reading this post and/or have supported me quite a bit since I began this blog last year, I thank you tremendously! I couldn't have done it without your support!

Today was also my parents' 16th wedding, and to celebrate, we went out to dinner (here's to not being sick this year!!! :D). We had a blast while we were there, and the food was extremely tasty. :D

I decided to post a few links to posts I created in October 2012 to reminisce old memories during this epic occasion! Here they are! :D

I Felt Like Showing This :P

First banner for this blog... haha. :D

New Banner!

A couple of Halloween posts (yes, I still don't know what I'm going to do for Halloween this year yet lol. :P)

UNDESCRIBABLY HORRIFIC STENCH

Hey guys! Yes, I know it's been 10,000 years since I posted on here, and you're probably wanting an explanation for the title above, so here goes (oh, and if you're eating some kind of meal or snack right now, I would wait until after you have finished eating to read this). :P

Yesterday, I was just attending Robotics as I usually do on Wednesday afternoons when the leaders of the team had the programmers (those who program the robot the rest of the team builds to perform certain tasks) to help them clean out a particular room because we didn't have a robot to actually program yet.

So we headed down to this room with double-doors that faced the length of the hallway and that was located just to the left of my homeroom (which happens to be at the very left end of one of the longer walls of the hallway). Ever since I first visited that hallway back in August, I thought those double-doors were just another entrance into that particular building. I was WROOOOOONG!!!

It turns out, the room located behind the double-doors is the room that the students at my high school refer to as "The Dungeon" because that is the hidden room where tons of spare pieces and junk are stored when they are not being used.

Once we arrived there, one of the leaders of the Robotics team opened the doors to this "Dungeon," and I peered inside only to encounter the most horrifying stench I had ever BEARED! I turned away instantly and produced the same reaction that all of the other members of the team made. That smell was SO DISGUSTING!!!

A few minutes later, I learned what the source was of that odor: a tragic combination of moldy wood.... and rat urine. How gross. I'm just glad I didn't die that day as a result of the contamination of that hallway...

While we escorted huge planks of wood with white mold scattered all over the surface outside of the building (we had on face masks and translucent gloves, of course!), the teacher that I will have for Spanish III next semester took a single glance at the trash we carried in our hands and cringed instantaneously. Not only that, but my Chemistry teacher walked by the room and remarked "Ew..." in disgust.

When I could finally go back upstairs and rip off my mask and gloves (the mask got a bit tangled in my long hair in the process), I ran into another girl that is going to my high school, and she asked "Is it really that bad?" as she watched me pull my mask off. "Yes..." I replied before I walked back to the Robotics room, grabbed my backpack, jacket, and Literature book, and left.

Apparently that room hadn't been cleaned out in 5 years; it's no wonder it smelled so terrible... Now I wish that WAS an entrance to the building! Well, on the bright side, at least we discovered this ancient staircase that used to lead to the 3-story building at my school.

Mr. Kent (he's my homeroom teacher), I hope you're not afraid of cockroaches, because a cockroach crawled underneath your door while we cleaned up the mess that collected over 5 consecutive years...

That's all for now, and have a thrilling Thursday everyone! :D

New and Awesome Backpack! :D

Hey guys! Today we went shopping... that is, until it started raining like crazy. Then we went directly to lunch and home. :P

While we were out shopping, I spotted this EXTREMELY awesome backpack in the Macy's store. To be honest, my messenger bag did not do the best job of distributing weight on my back, and my left shoulder usually wouldn't feel so good by the end of a school day. This backpack also looks really pretty in my opinion and is extremely comfortable. Here are pictures of the messenger bag and the new backpack I got today. :D

Hey Guys! :D

Hey everyone! School has been going pretty well so far, but balancing my extracurricular activities is becoming quite a challenge (I may have to drop out of one of them). Speaking of extracurricular activities, I recently learned that I was selected to be the Treasurer of the Aerospace Engineering club at my school! :D

Yeah, I'm pretty excited about that. :D

I also presented a bridge on Thursday that I built for my Engineering class. Here are a couple of drafts I made for the bridge along with a picture of the bridge itself! :D

That's all for now, and have a spectacular Saturday everyone! :D

Exciting End to a Slow Week

Hey guys! I know I'm posting this kind of late, but overall, this week has been really slow for me. :l As you may know, I was sick last Friday (the 23rd), and because of that, the first 3 days of the week proved to be a complete NIGHTMARE because I was making up work and emailing my teachers non-stop. Trying to do this and keep up with my extracurricular activities was not fun, trust me.

Thursday was a little better, and my Science Olympiad meeting was pretty interesting even though it was mainly for introductory purposes. Unfortunately, Science Olympiad and Drama Club conflict with each other in terms of meeting times, and I'm probably going to have to drop Drama Club because of this. Thursday was also the day I learned that a close relative of mine had died... D:

Today flowed a lot more smoothly than the other 4 days of this week COMBINED. I've met several awesome friends during my brief high school experience, and I've gotten as close to some of them in 3 weeks as I got with some of my friends from middle school in 3 years. A few of my friends and I actually had a really interesting conversation at lunch today that I was somewhat responsible for bringing up... lol. :P

Also, I was just scrolling through random YouTube videos out of boredom earlier when I came across an extremely intriguing video explaining a number of scientific facts. If you're a science geek like me, you will love this video!

That's all for now, and have an amazing, epic, stupendous, spectacular, awesome, fantastic three-day weekend!!! :D

Arrrg...

Hey guys. For those of you who have my classes and are thinking "How come Abigail isn't at school today?" I actually contracted a mild sickness... already. :l Not only that, but because of my high school's schedule, missing a day of school is like missing 2 days of class, so it's a different ball game from middle school.

Hopefully I won't have too much make-up work; thankfully my Spanish teacher moved our quiz to Monday (she was actually sick yesterday; I hope she feels better soon).

That's all for now, and have a fantastic Friday everyone! Blech...

P.S: Man, I type so slowly on the iPad compared to on the computer. O_O

Photo Discussion

Hey guys! For some odd reason, I feel like making a post discussing a random picture I stumbled upon while scrolling through Facebook earlier. This particular picture depicts one person's perspective of what different people perceive when they think of the name "Kevin."

To be honest, there are quite a few notable characters with the name "Kevin" in movies, bands, and everyday life. No offense to all of the 1D (One Direction) fans out there, but I have never been a huge fan of One Direction personally. I don't hate 1D, but I don't love them either. My picture describing what different people would think of when they perceive "Kevin" would actually look very different from the picture above. Here is the Kevin picture I created (to be honest, I thought of the last picture the instant I read the name "Kevin" in the picture above!). :)

I got the three photos in this picture from Google Images. :)

That's all for now, and have a superb Sunday everyone! :D

High School Happenings :D

Hey guys! As you may know, I started my first year of high school a week and a half ago! During this week and a half, I joined two extra-curricular activities, figured out how to navigate my high school, and met quite a few awesome teachers and friends!

Walking into my homeroom on the first day of high school resembled me walking in on the first day of 6th grade almost completely; I only knew three people in the entire class. I actually only knew one other person in 6th grade though... :P

Despite this, my homeroom teacher was extremely comical. On the first day, we had to write some information about ourselves on note cards, and I practically laughed my socks off when he read what I wrote for my interesting fact.

Teacher: "I like to go mountain biking in my spare time." Welcome to high school; YOU DON'T GET SPARE TIME!
(The whole class CRACKS UP, including me :P)
Teacher: But seriously guys, don't kill yourselves over this...

LOL!!!

If you think HE'S funny though, you should seriously see my Engineering teacher, who I have for 1st period, whenever we tell him to slow down on all the mathematical formulas he writes or when the announcements interrupt him. :P

When we tell him to slow down:

Student: Could you scroll up please? (He wrote the notes on his Smart Board) I couldn't get all of that.
Teacher: (humorously) Oh, you're just saying that because it's Friday. I would just want to get this over with so time can fly by faster so I can get to the weekend! -scrolls up- Oh fine.

When the announcements come on:

Teacher: That's the God-phone interrupting me again. It always likes to interrupt me right when I try to say something.
Class: -chuckles-
(A few minutes later...)
 (The announcements come on again)
(A few of us chuckle again)
Teacher: -looks up at the loudspeaker- (expression: Really?)

I decided to add one last scenario to this list. :P

When the teacher mentions a word/phrase we have never heard of in our LIVES and he tries to take it back:

Teacher: -lectures and writes on board-
Class: -writes on papers-
Teacher: "Properties of Materials: ... General: ... specific gravity"
Student: What is "specific gravity" supposed to mean?
Teacher: You know, specific gravity, Pacific gravity, Atlantic gravity...
Me: Wait... what? O.O
Teacher: You don't get the joke?!
(The class laughs again... and not because we understood the joke)
Me: No... :P
(The class is still laughing)
Teacher: (comically again) SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT UP!!! -directs class back to notes-

During second period, I take the second level of Spanish. Even though I'm still trying to get used to my Spanish teacher's teaching strategy (it's very different from any strategy I have ever encountered, and it's taking my brain a while to adjust to that... DX), she creates some pretty awesome review games for us to play. One day we even played her version of Battleship to review verbs and conjugations. For this she basically changed the letters to Spanish personal pronouns and the numbers to Spanish verbs. :)

After Spanish ends, I walk (and struggle to make it past a crowd of students who tower over me) to my first class in the new building that just opened up this school year, Honors 9th Grade Literature/Composition (that's my English class btw. :P). My English teacher's personality is VERY different from the English teacher I had last year's personality, but I like that. It gives me a chance to expose myself to different personality types. :)

As usual with my English class, I usually end up with more homework in this class than my other classes, but I still really like my Literature class. :)

Last but certainly not least, I have Chemistry for 4th period. Apparently about 80-90% of the work we do in Chemistry will be completed in class via labs and tests. Yay. :D Not only that, but I've already participated in 2 labs so far this year, and they were both awesome! The second one was more exciting in my opinion, but that was the one I had to go home and complete a lab report for. I guess it's a trade-off.

Today I actually got my first substitute in high school during Chemistry, and we did an activity that is typical when we get a substitute: watch a video related to the subject and answers questions for it (this video in particular discussed the history of explosives :D). My substitute teacher was pretty nice, and she wasn't NEARLY as annoying as the substitute in this video... lol. :P

Warning: The teacher cusses a bit in this video...

That's all for now, and TGIF (Thank Goodness It's Friday)!!! :D

Update: OMG I get the joke my Engineering teacher told us now! LOL! After 10 hours I finally get the joke! :D :P

I'M SO EXCITED!!! :D

Hey everyone! As you may know, high school starts for me in less than 3 days!!! I CAN'T WAIT!!! :D :D :D

I actually got some supplies for the upcoming school year (specifically my messenger bag, agenda, calculator, and lunch box) while we were out at the mall and Office Depot today, and I get more excited about school just thinking about them! :D

While we were at the mall, my parents and I got sucked in by the aromas of a candle shop on our right, and we remained in that shop for a half an hour! We thought we were never going to leave! LOL! :P

We actually ended up buying two candles while we were there. :P

That's all for now, and I feel like I'm about to bounce off the walls right now!!!!!

Have a superb Sunday everyone... :P

This Week's Happenings

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't exactly updated this blog as much as I should. Lately, I have been hanging out with my neighbor quite a bit, and I haven't had as much time to post. Here is a summary of the events that took place this week so far! :)

On Monday, I created an awesome and unique Animal Jam music video! Check it out! :D

It's interesting how I had a blast creating a music video for such a sad song... :P

On Tuesday, I went to a Strategies for Success workshop at my high school, and I unexpectedly received my schedule for 9th grade while I was there! I walked out of my high school squealing!!! :P After we ate lunch, my dad and I went mountain biking for the first time since our vacation in Florida and South Carolina, and I completed the beginner plus trail for the first time without crashing! Then, my neighbor and I ran around and biked for a while in 95 degree weather, and I had a massive headache by the end of the day. That night I slept for more than 12 hours. O_O

Yesterday, I hung out with my neighbor some more and we finished watching the classic movie Sound of Music. In my opinion, it was extremely peaceful and entertaining despite the fact that it was 3 hours in length!

Tonight, we're going to go back to my high school and walk through my schedule to all my classes! I can't believe it's that time already!!! :D

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's all for now, and have a thrilling Thursday everyone! :D
