Concert + Debate + Memories :P

Hey everyone! Yesterday I played my alto saxophone at the practice LGPE (Large Group Performance Evaluation) concert at my school. We played the tunes New South Wales, ...and the Nations Rejoice, and Pinnacle. (no, we did not create any of those tunes) Today we listened to recordings of us playing these pieces, and although our performance was pretty good, we could definitely improve before the REAL LGPE comes in March.

We also went over some stuff for our upcoming debate over the topics we did our research papers on today (I'm kind of nervous... debate is definitely not the same thing as acting and I've never done a real debate before... -gulp-), and Mrs. Bonstein showed us a clip of an average debate that occurred 5 years ago (she's going to show us a clip of a really good debate tomorrow).

Anyways, I was thinking about this clip when we were dismissed this afternoon, and I realized that I was in 3rd grade when this debate occurred. O___O Then I remembered something hilarious that occurred towards the beginning of my 3rd grade year, specifically when we got our class pet. :P

Teacher: This is our new class pet. I will let you pick what the fish's name will be as a class. To suggest a name for the pet, please raise your hand. It is a male betta fish, so please be sure to suggest male names for it. (ok I failed at remembering that XDDD)

Student 1: -raises hand-

Teacher: Yes?

Student 1: I think its name should be Charlie.

Teacher: Ok -writes name suggestion on board-

Student 2: -raises hand-

Teacher: Yes?

Student 2: Oliver

Teacher: Ok -writes-

Me (in 3rd grade): -suddenly has a GREAT idea for the fish's name- :O -hand shoots up in the air- !!!!!

Teacher: Yes Abigail?

Me: We should name it Jaws!!! :D  (after the Rated R movie LOL XDDDD)

Teacher: Ok -writes-

(A few minutes later...)

Teacher: Ok, who believes we should name the fish Charlie?

(Only 1 or 2 students raise their hands)

Teacher: Who thinks we should name it Oliver?

(3 students raise their hands)

Teacher: Who thinks we should name it Jaws?

(Almost all the students raise their hands, including me)

Teacher: Ok, Jaws it is!

Me: -thinks- Yay! :D

To make things even funnier, I was only 8 when we named that fish. XDDDD

During my 3rd grade year we discovered that when Jaws opened his mouth, these frills (or whatever they were called) sprang out of the corners of his mouth, and I knew right then that Jaws was the right name for him. :)

2 and a half years later...

Conversations in School: "I think Jaws died..." "Ya Jaws died just recently." "I think it was a couple of weeks ago..."

Me (now I'm in 5th grade XD): Wha... huh..? What's all this going around about Jaws...?

Schoolmate: Oh, Jaws died not too long ago.

Me: Awww that's too bad... I guess fish don't live very long... D:

R.I.P. Jaws, I will never forget all of the memories I made of watching you swim around in your fish bowl and of me chuckling whenever you opened your mouth. <3

Well, that's all for now, and have an indescribably amazing day (I didn't have much homework tonight yay)!!! :D

Update: Omg I just realized I rhymed. LOL :P :P :P

ONE OF MY BF'S ON AJ IS BACK!!!! YAAAY!!!

OMG I'M SO HAPPY!!!!

First I win 1st place in Reach for the Stars and 3rd place in Meteorology for Science Olympiad last Saturday (not today, last week) and was recognized on the morning announcements at our school on Tuesday, then I learn I got accepted in one of the best magnet programs in the COUNTRY (my dream came true :D). One day later, my long-lost best friend returns to AJ after being gone since September!!! OMG YAY!!!! :D :D :D

IF ANYONE NEEDS ME I'LL BE IN MY ROOM DOING THE HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

For some strange reason I feel like posting this song that came out back when I was in Preschool. :P

All credit goes to Usher and the creator of this video; I do not own ANY PART of this video. Enjoy. :D

Well, that's all for now, and have a spectacular Saturday! :D

YAAAY!!!!! :D :D :D

Yesterday, all of the people who applied for one of the magnet programs in our county were supposed to receive emails stating which magnet programs accepted them, if any did. During 7th period, my Science teacher, Mrs. Quenan, told me that Mrs. Koval, my Science Olympiad coach, needed to see me for a few minutes. I walked down the hallway extremely perplexed, thinking "I'm guessing Mrs. Koval wants to talk to me about Science Olympiad stuff...wait a minute, Science Olympiad ended almost a week ago... O.O" It turns out, Mrs. Koval wanted to give me a hug and wish me luck on the magnet admissions emails. I personally think that was really sweet. <3

Ok, now here comes the fun part. :D

It was almost the end of the period (actually the end of the day considering Science is my last period), and one of my classmates stated that the emails were sent regarding the magnet programs. All of a sudden everyone (including me) was SUPER excited about checking their emails, so Mrs. Quenan let us get on the computers 5 at a time (there were 5 computers in her room)...

AND GUESS WHAT I LEARNED?!?!?!

I MADE IT IN MY HIGH SCHOOL'S MAGNET PROGRAM!!!!!

YAAAAAAAY!!!!! :D :D :D

I am not kidding when I say felt like running outside and screaming "EUREKAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" right when I saw the email. I have dreamed about getting in my high school's magnet program since ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, and now that dream had come true. :D :D :D

I had to check the email again multiple times in order to believe what had happened. :P

Today we actually went out to lunch to celebrate this spectacular accomplishment, and we plan on going out to dinner later as well. :D

Before I go, I would like to state that I would have NOT been accepted in my high school's magnet program if it weren't for my family, friends, and teachers. You guys have supported me during the good times and the bad and encouraged me to strive to be the best person I can be. I can't thank you guys enough for your amazing support. <3

Well, that's all for now, and have a fantastic weekend! :D

Music These Days... :l

Hey everyone! Now that I completed my load of homework for the night, I have a confession to make about today's music.

One thing that I find very unfortunate is that many of the songs on today's radio talk about sex, drugs, and alcohol. Not only that, but it's extremely hard to find popular songs these days that DON'T have at least one curse word (about 95% of popular songs these days have at least 1 curse word D:). The radio stations are also beeping out less and less curse words, so now 5 year old kids whose parents make them listen to the radio are forced to listen to curse words, such as the b word and the d word. Doesn't anyone else think that's just sad?! I mean, seriously! What do people expect the next generation to be?! A bunch of alcoholics who are obsessed with sex, curse 24/7, and have absolutely no education (the government isn't giving schools enough money these days either D:)?!?! Here is a song I really like that doesn't curse or talk about you-know-what.

All credit for this video goes to Mr. Mister and the creator of this video. I DO NOT own the video or the song. Enjoy. :)

I just want to make something clear here. I actually wouldn't mind too much if a few songs on the radio talked about sex and drugs, but it's like EVERY

SINGLE

SONG

talks about this stuff!!!! This is why I like Owl City so much; Adam Young, the creator of Owl City, produces inspirational music that I can actually RELATE to! AND it doesn't talk about you-know-what!!! Unfortunately, that's probably why the only songs he produced that ever came on the radio were Fireflies and Good Time. :( I actually wouldn't mind listening to an Owl City station. :) Here are some of Owl City's songs.

Last but not least... :)

I do not own ANY of these videos! All credit goes to Owl City and the creators of these videos!

Well, that's all for now, and have a terrific Tuesday! :)

YAAAAAY!!!!!! :D :D :D

Hey everyone! Today our school Science Olympiad team competed at the regional Science Olympiad competition today, and we had a BLAST!!! Meteorology for the most part was really easy (it was easy last year too XD), and we barely even had to use our cheat sheets (unlike tests in class, you can bring sheets to use as a reference in certain Science Olympiad events). Reach for the Stars was rather... interesting. Some of the constellations were really hard to identify because the people coaching the event showed actual pictures of the constellations in space instead of pictures of the constellations with lines drawn between the stars. Not only that, but for all the questions at a particular station my partner and I had to make educated guesses. We kinda stunk at Write It Do It, for neither my partner (who was different from my partner for Reach for the Stars) nor I were very experienced with pipe-cleaners. :l

Anyways, we were at the Awards ceremony at the end of the day, and they announced which teams got 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place for each event. They listed these rankings for each event in alphabetical order, so Meteorology came first. It turned out that my partner and I got 3rd place! We walked up to the stage to get our medals as many people took pictures of us. :P A few minutes later, they announced the rankings for Reach for the Stars. 2nd and 3rd place both went to teams that ALWAYS win medals for EVERY SINGLE EVENT (they are actually 2 teams from the same school, and usually what happens is they win the regional and state competitions and get 2nd or 3rd place at nationals), and 4th place went to another team, so my Reach for the Stars partner and I automatically knew we didn't earn a medal. I was telling my partner we did a good job, when.... THE HOST ANNOUNCED OUR SCHOOL AS HAVING WON THE GOLD MEDAL (1st place) FOR REACH FOR THE STARS!!!!!!!!! OMG the whole team was COMPLETELY SHOCKED!!! Even our coach's mouth dropped!!! Surely there must've been a MISTAKE!!! Of course, there wasn't, and my partner and I walked to the stage shocked and exhilarated at the same time to receive our medals. :D I had NEVER received higher than 4th place in ANY event!!!! :D :D :D :D YAAAAY!!!! Even though our team didn't make it to the state competition, I am extremely happy I received the rankings I did in these events. :D Later I learned we ranked 16th place out of 22 teams in Write It Do It, but oh well. :P

This was also my last year with my current Science Olympiad team (I'm going to high school next year), and though I am going to truly miss all the amazing friends I made on this team, I will never forget all the ecstatic memories we experienced together as a team. I will also make sure to use the skills I have learned to my advantage when I join my high school's Science Olympiad team.

I believe we can all learn a valuable lesson from this experience: anything is possible when you try your hardest to push your way past the obstacles you may encounter in order to achieve a certain goal. I also have a message to send to all those planning on joining my middle school's Science Olympiad team in the future: NEVER give up. Even when something seems impossible to achieve, use all of your resources. Look within yourself; you CAN do it! You just have to believe you can and take action to achieve your desires.

Here is a song that relates to this rather nicely. :)

I DO NOT own this video. All credit goes to The Script and the creator of the video.

That's all for now, and have an amazing night! :D

Sick :(

I had feared this was going to happen when I got a sore throat on Saturday... I had to stay home from school today with a minor cough and congestion. :( I tried to make it through the school week because I would have Friday to rest before our Science Olympiad competition Saturday (I ALWAYS get sick right before Science Olympiad competitions, idk why), but this morning my sickness was REALLY bad. I was laying in bed trying to tell Dad some things, and I sounded like a dying goose. D: Earlier I had to take really gross adult medicine, and now I'm eating Chicken Noodle Soup (I have to eat Vegetable Soup for dinner D:). My mom also wants me to drink 3 cups of Orange Juice before 5:00 Eastern Time. :( It was 8:50 something and I was already missing school... :( In an hour or when I finish eating (whichever comes first), I have to go lay back down. :( I DO have good news though. In the course of 5 hours my congestion and cough COMPLETELY disappeared and my voice became, like, 5 times stronger. Because of this, I'll probably go to school tomorrow. :D I'm gonna dread the make-up work though... luckily there doesn't seem to be too much work that I missed (I already finished the stuff that was supposed to be due today). :D

Well, that's all for now, and have a wacky, wonderful, whatever you want Wednesday! :P

Yay!!!!! :D

Hey everyone! I actually just got back from International Night at my school, and even though it was short, we had a BLAST!!! After the introductory PTSA meeting concluded, we decided to visit the countries my teachers did (I helped out with two of them). My mom and I passed by Mrs. Bonstein's room, which displayed facts about Italy, a country I REALLY love, on our way to Mr. Rodriguez's and Mrs. Siano's rooms, and Mrs. Bonstein seemed so HAPPY! I don't think I've seen her as happy as she was tonight since we met at the Meet and Greet in August! I think I caught some of her cheerfulness tonight (happiness is contagious XD). :P I also tried the lava pudding (white chocolate pudding with red food coloring and oreos) she had. After that, I showed my mom the things I helped out with in Mr. Rodriguez's and Mrs. Siano's classes along with other things we put together as a class (or classes for Mr. Rodriguez's classroom XD). Then we checked out some of the countries the other teachers had to present, and they were all really nice. One country that REALLY caught our eyes was Japan. The decorative lanterns and tree displayed outside that room were SO COLORFUL AND PRETTY. I forgot which teacher did that. Oh well, I'm probably getting you guys all confused with all these teacher names anyway. XDDDD :P

And, to add to all this excitement...

I ACTUALLY HAD NO HOMEWORK IN SOCIAL STUDIES TONIGHT!!!

Omg that like NEVER (seriously, NEVER) happens!!! :D :D :D

AND it's a 4-day week (Friday is a Teacher Workday) followed by a 4-day weekend (Monday is President's Day)!!! YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

You must think I'm done, do you? Well I'm not. :P

I decided to post a song on here that brings back childhood memories (my dad played this song on his phone yesterday on the way to school). I LOVED this song when I first heard it in 3rd grade, and I still love it 5 years later. <3

(I do not own this song. All credit goes to Coheed and Cambria and the creator of this video.)

Well, that's all for now, and have a terrible- just kidding, TERRIFIC Tuesday everyone! :D :D :D

Hi (I can't think of a better title XD) :P

Hey everyone! I have some good news and some... not-so-good news...

Bad News: My throat hurts. I hope I'm not getting sick... :(

Good News: Today my mom and I watched Madagascar 3. :D I personally REALLY enjoyed the movie; as a matter of fact, it's probably my favorite of the 3 Madagascar movies! Although all the characters in this movie were spectacular, my personal favorite is Stefano the sea lion (Yes I got his name right! Omg I kept saying he was Francesco XD). HE IS SO CUTE!!!!!!! I can't even describe how cute he is!!! Here is a picture of him. c:

Well, that's all for now, and have a fantastic, fun-filled Saturday!

Oops...

I was just in my Language Arts class today, and we were going over comma usage and how they can completely change the meanings of sentences. Apparently I got COMPLETELY discombobulated when our teacher, Mrs. Bonstein, was reading out the Punctuation handouts before she gave them to us. When Mrs. Bonstein got towards the bottom of the paper, she read out "Which sentence do you prefer? 'A woman comma without her man comma is nothing,' or 'A woman colon without her comma man is nothing.'" The way she read out the punctuation symbols confused me TO DEATH. I guess the second sentence didn't quite register in my brain the way it was supposed to, because for the second sentence, I thought Mrs. Bonstein said "A woman: without her man, is nothing," which would have meant the same thing as the first sentence, "A woman, without her man, is nothing." Because of this, I just said that I was undecided when we voted on which sentence was better. Then she gave us the paper (she just happened to give us the paper AFTER we voted), and it turned out the second sentence was actually "A woman: without her, man is nothing," NOT "A woman: without her man, is nothing." OMG I FELT SO GUILTY! Me: -FACEPALM- OMG WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!?!?!?!?!?!?! :O :O :O

Well that was embarrassing (or at least to the girls that might be considered awkward); I attracted THE WHOLE CLASS'S attention pretty much too because Mrs. Bonstein stated that only the boys voted for the first sentence.

Boy: -sees me raising hand (I thought that the first one was CORRECT in terms of punctuation so I voted for it)- And Abigail!

Me: -is still confused- I'm undecided!!! (meeeep....)

So ya... guilty embarrassment right there, man. I COMPLETELY dissed myself, BIG TIME!

Hi.

I like cheese.

And chocolate for that matter.

But I especially like lasagna.

And sentence fragment...

After sentence fragment...

After sentence fragment...

Wow I really tossed MY grammar in the trash bin. O.O

YAY NO MORE SENTENCE FRAGMENTS! :D

..................

CURSES!!!! XDDDDDDDD

Well I used an interjection at least!!!

Oh yay two interjections!

Wow O.O
