Hey guys! As you may be able to tell, I have been feeling rather anxious to start high school lately! As a matter of fact, there is only a week and a half left of Summer Vacation for me! I even added a Back to School countdown to the right of my blog posts. :)
That's all for now, and have a spectacular Saturday! :D

A Poem I Wrote
Hey everyone! I was just looking at documents I created on Microsoft Word during the past 2 school years out of boredom when I stumbled upon the elegy (a poem created in honor of those who have passed away) I created back in May for my poetry booklet/project. As I read this poem, I realized that it describes almost perfectly how Stripe, one of my cats, left us more than 2 weeks ago.
Here is the poem.
"An Unfortunate Loss" By: Abigail
The woman was a ginormous jar of honey
I DO have some good news to lighten things up though. Today dadmumme is coming over to my house for the first time since October! I can't wait!!! :D
That's all for now, and have a terrific Tuesday everyone!
Here is the poem.
"An Unfortunate Loss" By: Abigail
The woman was a ginormous jar of honey
Always
looking out for those she loved
And
brightening every tough situation
As if she
was a brilliant flower in the midst of a nasty storm.
One tragic
day,
A fatal
sickness struck her down
Like a
ginormous sledgehammer
Ready to
pound anyone who approached,
And she
gradually vanished into the mist.
Her
disappearance shattered the hearts of many,
For she was
a persistent cookie
In the midst
of a terrible illness
Her cinnamon
eyes sparkled
Before Mother Nature stole them forever.I DO have some good news to lighten things up though. Today dadmumme is coming over to my house for the first time since October! I can't wait!!! :D
That's all for now, and have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

Story :)
Hey everyone! Today I feel like telling you a story that took place quite a few years ago. :)
Back when I was in 3rd grade, I had to stay in the ASP (After School Program) of my school every day because my parents couldn't get off work at 2:15 PM to pick me up from school. One day, we were just sitting in the cafeteria of our school when students from 2nd and 3rd grades started coming up one at a time and singing songs of their choices for all of us to listen to. I was too shy to come up and sing at the time, for I had never taken the time to sit down and memorize all the lyrics to a song.
Me (as a 3rd grader): -listens to everyone else sing and claps for each person-

(A few minutes later...)
ASP Coach: Come on, Abigail! You can do it!
Me: ...
ASP Coach (the same one): Come on, give it a shot!
Me: Uhhh... okay? -walks up to the microphone nervously- (thinks: OMG What am I going to do I don't know what to sing what if I go blank?!?!)
Luckily, I did manage to remember some of the lyrics from my favorite song as a child, and I sung that part for my first solo performance ever. Even though I was nervous at first, I was SUPER EXCITED once I started singing. This may have been what jump-started my performing career towards the end of elementary school. :)
Over 5 years later, this particular song flashed back in my mind, and I decided to look it up on YouTube. Despite the fact that it has been so long since I last heard this song, I remember the song as clearly as a slim, fragile glass. Here is the song I performed in elementary school, Come to my Window by Melissa Etheridge (I sang from 2:53 to the end)!
I do not own the song or the video. Enjoy. :D
That's all for now, and have a spectacular Saturday everyone (I had to check to see what day it was lol)! :D

Boredom... :P
Hey everyone! I really haven't had much to talk about lately. :P Even though Summer can be an extremely awesome season, the worst part of Summer would have to be the times when there is almost NOTHING to do. :P Yesterday I discovered the first back-to-school commercial of the year when I pulled up a video on YouTube out of boredom. My first year of high school is just around the corner, after all! :P
Despite this seemingly endless boredom, I do have some exciting news. On either July 22 or July 23, my friend who moved out-of-state in March 2012 (those of you who play Animal Jam may know her as dadmumme) is coming to my home state! I haven't seen her since she came to visit in October, and I can't wait! :D
That's all for now, and have a fantastic Friday everyone (FOR ONCE I didn't get the day of the week wrong)! :D

Music Update :D
Hey everyone! Those of you who check my blog regularly might have come here today thinking "Why in the world is Fireflies by Owl City not playing on this blog anymore?!"
No, my blog is not glitched to those who may be thinking that... :P
To answer your question, I actually no longer have one favorite song or one favorite band/singer anymore. Recently I started having multiple bands/singers that I learned about in both elementary and middle school be my favorites, and I can't decide on a favorite song anymore. :P Not only that, but one of my friends on Animal Jam requested that I update the song on this blog not too long ago. I also know that some of you may want to listen to songs that were not written by Owl City. Because of this, I removed the Fireflies song and embedded 4 new songs onto this blog (scroll down to the bottom of this page to listen to them). An Owl City song is still on the list though, for I still enjoy Owl City tremendously. :)
I hope you enjoy the new music on this blog (I claim no ownership to the music), and have a wonderful Wednesday everyone! :D
Update: If you plan on listening to Hello Seattle by Owl City, I would recommend turning the volume down on your computer. Otherwise, you will practically go deaf (I learned this the hard way). :P

Aerospace Engineering Camp :)
Wow... It feels like it's actually FRIDAY for the first time in 2 months. O_O
As you may know, I have been attending an Aerospace Engineering camp at a nearby college. This camp, in my opinion, was so awesome and intriguing that I don't know where to begin! :P
For the past 4 nights, I have been creating paper airplanes for 3 different competitions that we competed in today (I wasted about 15 sheets of paper in the process). Here is a list of the competitions. :)
On the second day, we walked down 5 flights of stairs and across campus to the baseball field at the college. There, we practiced throwing boomerangs and competed in a boomerang competition to see who could throw his/her boomerang and have it come back the closest to their location (I might have actually won this competition when the boomerang landed 15 feet and 7 inches to my left). After we returned to the main meeting room and ate lunch, we started using rocket kits to build rockets for the Rocket Launch on Wednesday.
As I described in the previous paragraph, we had our Rocket Launch competition on Wednesday. For this competition, we competed to see whose rocket would land the closest to a hula hoop (we use those a lot, huh? :P) the instructor placed in front of the rockets. My rocket actually shot up pretty high, and it landed in the infield of the baseball field where the boomerang and rocket launch competitions took place (about 90 feet away from the hoop).
Not too long before we went outside for this competition, an astronomer came in and taught us about the space aspect of aerospace engineering. :)
After we came back from the competition, the instructor showed us an RC simulator, where we attempted to fly a computerized RC airplane and military jet. Despite this, we all crashed in some exceptionally hilarious ways. :P
I felt bad for the guy who went after me though. Because there were two rocket launchers, and nobody had stepped up to the rocket launcher I had just launched from yet, I decided to stick around the launching area until after the guy after me launched. When he tried to launch, however, the rocket stayed on the launcher, and smoke spewed EVERYWHERE. I rushed back to the crowd of spectators to try to get away from the immense smoke (don't worry; it was harmless).
Yesterday was probably the most exciting day of the entire camp. We went into the CAD (Computer Animated Design) lab to design a rocket and an airplane on a software called Solidworks. Nobody finished the airplane, but one person came really close. I personally didn't get past the fuselage (body) of my plane. :P
Even though working in the CAD lab was cool, that was not why yesterday was so exciting. We separated into teams of 2 on Monday, and yesterday each team walked down to a different building so that each person could fly the two flight simulations the camp had to offer. These simulations felt JUST LIKE flying a real airplane! O_O Luckily I took off, turned, and landed successfully on both simulations, but this experience was exhilarating and INTENSE. :P
Today we reviewed the content we learned this week and viewed a little bit of new knowledge to wrap up the camp. This was also the day we had the paper airplane competitions and presented the airplanes we created. My range airplane actually did better at the competition than at home because I had more space to work with, but my endurance airplane didn't do as well at the competition. I had to practice my airplane over the wet grass in my front yard because it kept colliding into the walls and couch of my house, and over time the plane absorbed the moisture and created quite a bit of drag (the force working against the plane when it flies). My accuracy plane performed about as well at the competition as it did at home. Here are the statistics for each of these catagories. :)
Top Range (the farthest distance)
Home Competition
24 feet 30.1 feet
Top Endurance
Home Competition
4 seconds 1.7 seconds
Top Accuracy
Home Competition
15 feet 15 feet
The instructor set up the RC simulator again while the parents were arriving for the awards ceremony, and everyone improved tremendously from Wednesday! I guess the practice we got from the flight simulations helped more with the RC simulations than I thought they would. :D
After the awards ceremony, I said goodbye to my partner and new friend for the last time (I miss her already) and left the familiar college with my parents.
Phew! That was a lot of reflecting and typing! I need to take a break so I can eat dinner... :P

For the past 4 nights, I have been creating paper airplanes for 3 different competitions that we competed in today (I wasted about 15 sheets of paper in the process). Here is a list of the competitions. :)
- Range- How far the paper airplane travels
- Endurance- How many seconds the paper airplane stays in the air
- Accuracy- How far back you can stand from a hanging hula hoop and fly the plane through the hoop successfully (10 feet, 15 feet, 20 feet...etc.)

R.I.P. Stripe... :'(
Hey guys... We had to put Stripe, one of our cats, down today. :'(
I came home from vacation last week to find out Stripe was feeling REALLY sick; apparently she had been diagnosed with chronic hepatitis when my parents took her to the vet shortly before I returned. We thought she would start to recover after we gave her some medicine, but she wouldn't take the medicine at all, and she never ate (she lost half a pound in the past week). We finally decided it was time for her to go this morning; saying goodbye to her was one of the most heartbreaking experiences of my life.
Because of this, I decided to create this post in her memory. Despite the fact that Stripe had been sick on and off her whole life, she was an extremely sweet cat and a wonderful addition to our household. Even during her final days, she never stopped providing endless affection to those who gave her a home along with others who cared for her.
At least I said goodbye to her knowing she lived a long and happy life... :(
That's all for now, and have a spectacular Saturday everyone (it really doesn't feel like Saturday right now). D:
